Preconceptions about waterbeds

Unknown is unloved

A waterbed leaves a lot to the imagination, which makes people create the strangest stories.  These days, waterbeds are still compared with the products that were available on the market in the 60's, while waterbeds have experienced a serious product development. Even movie and TV producers are inspired by the waterbed for the same reason. They use the waterbed a lot to create funny situations. In many cases the waterbed is put into a bad daylight.

Some of the preconceived ideas:

Preconception 1: Not enough is known about waterbeds.

Did you know that you are always welcome at a professional dealer for advice? Not every sleep comfort store supplies waterbeds , which is why they can't or won't tell you about the advantages.
If you want good advice about waterbeds, you should go to a specialized dealer.

Preconception 2: Waterbeds are hard to get in and out.

This used to be the case for the old hardside waterbeds. The waterbed has evolved quite a bit and now this problem is solved. These days, it is very easy to get in and out a stabilized waterbed.
Did you know there are even waterbeds specifically made for older people?

Preconception 3: A waterbed uses a lot of power.

The warmth of a waterbed is never wasted. The warmth benefits your body, your comfort , your health and the hygiene of your bed. The warmth makes sure that the perspiration ,created at night, is evaporated rapidly.
A traditional mattress will accumulate a lot of moisture in its core and create mould there.
All the warmth produced from your waterbed ends up in the room and heats up the room. In fact, a waterbed doesn't use any extra energy.
Did you know that 4D-mattresses are very well insulated so they use a minimum of energy? The consumption depends on the temperature, the insulation, the heating in the bedroom and the used bed linen.

Preconception 4: A waterbed sloshes.

A waterbed will only make noises if there's air trapped in the water container.
All the excess air is removed from the mattress with the installation of the waterbed with the aid of an air pump.
However, it is possible that a tiny bit of air might still remain, but  this can later be removed.
If the watermattress keeps on producing air, this means  the mattress isn't maintained properly, or that bad water has been used at installation.
Any squeaking sounds that a bed frame might produce, you won't experience it with a waterbed. This is due to its sturdy construction and huge volume of water holding everything in its place.

Preconception 5: I have to get rid of my old bed if I buy a waterbed.

Did you know 4D-systems can be made to fit any type of bed frame? You can hold onto your existing bed frame. In this way, a bed with a 4D-mattress can be either classic or contemporary.
A 4D-system doesn't necessarily have to be built-in . It is perfectly possible to build a free standing bed. For people who are purchasing their first bed, this is a perfect solution.
Because 4D-systems use foam rails with a hinged edge, most bed sheets can be used too.

Preconception 6: A waterbed is expensive.

Did you know that conventional systems are often more expensive? Sleep is important, you will have read that on this website. Economizing on sleep comfort is a wrong attitude. A bad night's rest will definitely influence your quality of life too.
No other piece of furniture in your house is used as much as your bed. On average, you spend about 8 hours in your bed. If you compare this amount of time with the price of a waterbed, it is not expensive at all.
Some companies even offer their motivated employees the chance to win a waterbed, because they know that they will perform better, if they sleep well.

Preconception 7: A  waterbed demands a lot of maintenance.

This is actually an advantage. A waterbed is the only mattress system that CAN be maintained. Sleeping hygienically is very important and a waterbed can guarantee this for 100%.
The core of the mattress can be cleaned and the quilt (cover) can be washed or in some cases dry-cleaned. It's fully up to you, how hygienic you wish to sleep.

Preconception 8: My bedroom will flood when I have a leaky waterbed.

Did you know that every waterbed is provided with a safety liner that will catch every drip in case of a leak?
Of course it is important to check the quality of the safety liner before you purchase your water mattress.

Preconception 9: The water will spray when the waterbed is punctured.

Water does not spray when your waterbed has a leak, but everything you see in movies is fiction anyway.

Preconception 10: Sex on a waterbed is less enjoyable.

Did you know that you have more possibilities in a good waterbed, and that you can give your imagination free play?
The pressureless surface allows you to try out other positions that would normally be painful or uncomfortable.
After all waterbeds are often found in red light districts.  That should be some indication as to how good waterbeds must be for making love.

Preconception 11: A waterbed will fall through the ceiling.

Did you know that a modern type waterbed weighs far less than the older hardside waterbeds, and weighs even less per square meter than a full bookshelf?

Preconception 12: Waterbeds aren't as stylish.

Did you know you can determine the look of your 4D-system? You can build a 4D-Comfort mattress into any bed.
Design options were limited for the former (hardside) waterbeds. These beds, however, were manufactured in the US and didn't always meet the European taste.
