Sleeping on 4D comfort waterbeds |
Are waterbeds heated?Waterbeds are always heated with heating elements specifically designed for that purpose. Normally the water temperature is heated at your own skin surface temperature, around 28°C. Good waterbed heaters let you adjust the heater to a specific temperature, making it possible for you to regulate it to your own preferences. The comfortable warmth is one of the most appreciated aspects of a waterbed. A waterbed can be heated to a temperature between 26°C and 30°C. A classic waterbed heater consists of a
heating element and an adjustable thermostat. The heater is placed underneath the watermattress and
is connected to the thermostat which is placed outside the bed. Good heating elements have a
built-in heat sensor and are electronically secured.
These days, there are several different types of heaters on the market: traditional waterbed heaters, ceramic waterbed heaters or carbon fibre heaters. Each of them have their own advantages and qualities. Ask you local salesperson for more advice. For a double waterbed one usually provides a 300W heater, which works on demand, keeping the temperature constant. Most waterbed heaters have been tested and certified by several different European certification institutes (VDE, TÜV, KEMA, BENOR) and are very safe when used according to the manufacturers guidelines. A softside water mattress is a well insulated system due to its foam rails, cover and closed plinth. The electricity consumption is, therefore, merely about 1KWh per day. The exact energy consumption is determined by the size of the bed, the temperature of the bedroom, the insulation value of your quilt etc. |
