What guarantee is offered for 4D-waterbeds and what does it cover?
The conditions of the guarantee vary somewhat depending on the type of waterbed,
but the duration of the guarantee is mostly 5 years. Legally you have a right to an European
guarantee for any product, which is valid for 2 years. What the exact terms and conditions of your
guarantee are, is stated in your guarantee certificate.
You are better off with brands that have as few intermediaries as possible between you and
the manufacturer.
European manufacturers, in this case, are obliged to obey the strictest of regulations.
A clear guarantee and manual is provided with your waterbed in your own language.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The warranty is only valid if the bed was purchased from a recognized retailer and the
completed guarantee is returned within 15 days after delivery.
- The warranty period starts from the first day it is used and automatically starts 6 months
after it was manufactured.
- The guarantee is only valid when the water mattress is used :
-
- with an adequate safety liner
- with a suitable support
- with an approved and correctly placed waterbed heater
- The guarantee only relates to the product. This means : 5 years warranty after first date of
use for the softside and the mattress, except for the cover, and 2 years warranty for the waterbed
heater.
- The warranty only covers manufacturers defects. Leaks should be restored by the user.
- The warranty period expires immediately when the manufacturer suspects that the mattress has
been dirtied, soiled, burnt, or treated unhygienic. For any type of incorrect use (see manual),
abuse or other causes that are not due to material or manufacturers defects no guarantee can be
offered.
- The manufacturer preserves the right to repair or replace the mattress. When the exact same
material is no longer available, the manufacturer has the right to use an equivalent alternative
material.
- The manufacturer also retains the right to perform minor product alterations.
- Whether a defect is due to incorrect use or a production error will be determined by the
manufacturer.
- Returned mattresses should be accompanied with a detailled description of the complaint.
Furthermore, the location where the damage needs to be repaired. If not, the mattress could be
returned to sender without being repaired.
- The mattress should be fully paid, if not, then no guarantee can be given. The warranty card
and proof of payment needs to be available and shown on request.
- The warranty is only valid if and when the user has added the recommended conditioner every six
months. This is necessary to avoid bacteria growth and to preserve the flexibility of the water
mattress. You need to have the conditioner registered by your local retailer on the assigned space
on your registration card.
- The warranty automatically expires when the water mattress has remained empty for more than 4
months.
- Colour changes of the vinyl are not included in the warranty.
- No guarantee can be given when the waterbed is installed incorrectly (see manual).
- Use of a waterbed underneath a tanning bed is not advised.
- After the mattress is exchanged for a new one within the warranty period, the new warranty
period ends on the same day as the original mattress.
- Any damage caused, due to misuse, are at the expense of the user.
